1. How many rounds are there for each category?
    Solo category has preliminary round (YouTube submission), live semi-final, and live final rounds.  All others (Contemporary Composers, Duets, Ensembles, & Concertos) have only the preliminary and final rounds.

  3. When do the results for each round get announced?
    For the preliminary rounds (YouTube submission), you will hear back from us no later than April 14th.  For semi-final rounds (only in Solo category), there will be an award ceremony at the end of each day to announce the finalists.  For all final rounds, the results will be announced during the Final Award Ceremony on Sunday, July 1st at 6:30pm (even if you play in finals on Wednesday for instance, the results will not be announced until Sunday)

  4. Do I need to bring sheet music for judges?
    Three copies of sheet music (one must be original) is required only for the Contemporary Composers category.

  5. Do I need to purchase a ticket to watch the performance?
    Each competitor will receive an envelop upon registration with two ribbons that serve as tickets to watch the competition.  One is for the competitor and the other is for one of their guests.  If you have three family members, you will have to purchase one ticket.

  6. When can I sign up for master class and/or lessons?
    You can sign up for master class/lessons online up to 48 hours prior.

  7. Can I change my repertoire after submitting the application?
    Repertoire selection must be final on the application.

  8. How are competitors grouped in each category?
    Competitors are grouped in different levels based on their age on June 1st, 2018.  If a group does not have enough competitors, they will be grouped with another level at our discretion.

  9. For the preliminary round, can two pieces be from two different takes/recordings?
    Yes

  10. Will you provide a page turner for the ensemble category?
    Unfortunately we do not.  If you need a page turner (or two!), please bring them with you.

  11.  Can I use the same piece to compete in more than one category?
    This is not accepted in our competition.

  12.  I’m competing in the Concerto category.  When do I get to rehearse with an accompanist?
    If you have requested an accompanist from us, we will be contacting you with the accompanist’s name and contact information a couple weeks prior so that you may communicate with them about tutti cuts, tempi, etc.  The rehearsal will most likely be scheduled on the day of the performance (or the day before depending on room availability).  If you are bringing your own accompanist, a warm-up room with two pianos will be provided on the day of as well.

  13. What are the requirements for the video submission?  Videos may not be edited in any way. The applicant must be visible on the screen at all times. The pieces recorded for preliminary video submission may be used for semifinal/final live rounds.
